About

We are a non-profit making group based in the Lincolnshire market town of Stamford. Our aim is to preserve the old orchards that still exist in the town, to establish new orchards and to rediscover old apple varieties.

The development and maintenance of these orchards will help maintain a threatened habitat and preserve the unique wildlife associated with it.

Wherever possible these orchards will become a community resource – an open space to play and relax in. Hopefully, in time, they can become a focus for community-based activities.

Our objectives are:

Heritage

to rediscover Stamford’s lost apples.
to create a stock of these for planting in orchards and gardens locally.

Community

to establish Community Orchards.
to make the orchards into open space amenities for local people accessible at all times by all of the community.

Wildlife

to preserve the wildlife lost in the destruction of old orchards and trees.

Education

to encourage local schools to use the orchards both new and restored, as an educational resource.

We welcome offers of help and support as well as donations to help fund our activity.
