Stamford Apple Day 2007 was again held at the Stamford Arts Centre, using the Ballroom and the Blue Room, with over 2000 visitors on the day.

Every year the event seems to get bigger and better!

Our Stamford Apple Day would not be the same without the experts from The East Of England Apples and Orchards Project. Every year they are swamped by people bringing apples for identification.

Once again, the EEAOP's huge apple variety display was a major attraction with trays and trays of different apples. Whilst these are wonderful to see they do play an important role in helping the experts identify the apples that are brought in. As in previous years, many samples were taken away for further inspection - maybe those elusive Stamford varieties are still out there.

As always there was lots to see and do on the day - the tombola grows in size and quality of prizes each year, so a huge thank you to all the individuals and companies who donate these prizes so generously.

Fun and games were the order of the day, with apple bobbing proving as popular as ever. This year children could pick apples from a tree and win prizes too - a wonderful new take on the lucky dip.

Local schools were involved too - with the children's poster competition dominating the centre of the Ballroom. Many thanks to the Deputy Mayor for presenting the prizes.

Tasty snacks and produce, made from locally grown apples, were available from Stamford College catering students.

There was a real buzz around the beekeepers stall, showing how a beehive works and selling honey and wax products.

Stamford Juice Company had a busy stall, selling locally produced apple juices and ciders.
