Stamford Apple Day 2008

The 5th Annual Stamford Apple Day, where more than 300 varieties of apple were on display, was held in the Stamford Arts Centre on Saturday 4th October 2008. About 1500 visitors came along to taste the apples and to buy some of the fine foods and drink that were on offer. Many visitors brought along a homegrown apple for identification by a member of the East of England Apple and Orchard Group (EEAOP). Other activities included apple peeling, tombola and fun and games for the children as well as adults!

Our Apple Days are held to promote the re-introduction of local English apples to the orchards and gardens in our area. There were displays showing the orchard and tree nursery that we have been able to create using the money raised at previous Apple Days.

Thank you to all those who helped out on the day it was a great success and to our Sponsors may we also give you a big thank you!

If anyone can spare some further time there is always plenty to do - so please Contact Us to become a member or a volunteer.

We look forward to your continued support.

"An important visitor to our show was a descendant of Mrs Peasgood after whom the Peasgood Nonsuch apples she is shown holding are named"
