Our seventh SCOG Apple Day was held in the Stamford Arts Centre on Saturday 2nd October 2010 from 10:30 till 16:30.
To our Sponsors may we give you a big thank you for your support!
The day was held to raise awareness about the varieties of apples which exist, many originating in Stamford and to publicise knowledge of the local apple orchards that are part of our heritage but which are being lost to developments.
Apple tasting of many locally grown apples was availble and many different variety of apples were for sale.
Many visitors brought along apples for the experts from the East of England Apple and Orchards Project team to identify and our own SCOG gurus were on hand to provide advice and to answer apple questions.
Both New College Stamford and the local Country Market provided a delicious range of apple produce.
Other stalls including Slowfood, Apple Juice, Cider making, Bees and Stamford Rivercare supported the show.A Schools painting competition was held and there was Apple Bobbing and other games for the Children. A tombola stall raised much needed funds for SCOG!
